Manhattan becomes a hive of activity during New York Fashion Week. Join the fashion crowd in the city’s cafés, restaurants and clubs, all a short stroll from the BOSS Store in buzzing Soho, a favourite neighbourhood of style stars including Caroline Issa and Pernille Teisbaek.
The best places to rub shoulders with the it crowd are conveniently close to the BOSS store in Soho (555 Broadway, New York, NY 10012), including Jimmy at the James Hotel, an 18th-floor lounge with an elegant rooftop deck, and the relaxed Soho Grand Hotel, described by stylist Pernille Teisbaek as a “home away from home” and “always full of life, with a cozy vibe”.
Early risers should head to Balthazar
[1]
, around the corner from the BOSS store, where editors and bloggers gather over coffee and croissants. The not-so-early breakfast crowd meets a few hours later at Egg Shop
[2]
, which cures hangovers with its cheerful vibe. The sun-filled space specialises in its namesake and sandwiches.
After breakfast, take a tip from Caroline Issa and visit the Walter De Maria art installation in Soho, The Broken Kilometer [3]. Described by Caroline as “truly a hidden gem”, it is a haven of calm amid the fast-paced city: “breathtaking and beautiful”.
Two of the best lunch spots in the area are Sweetgreen
[4]
, with its innovative salad bowls, and Charlie Bird
[5]
, a two-level space offering American-meets-Italian fare. Meanwhile, get your caffeine fix at La Colombe Torrefaction
[6]
, a tiny espresso bar on Lafayette Street.
To watch the trail of attractive people float by, there is no better place than outside Café Gitane in Nolita. This little nook, with its Moroccan-influenced snacks, has been a model’s paradise for years.
After a busy day of shows or shopping, it’s time to dine. Front-row regular Caroline Issa recommends Navy
[7]
. “Their seafood is out of this world, and every time I'm there, I see a supermodel, an actor or a designer,” she says. “I always make it a point to eat there whenever I visit New York, and I'm never disappointed!”
Alternatively, head to the secret party room at Macao
[8]
, to get your evening started. While the restaurant upstairs is worth visiting for dinner, the downstairs speakeasy is the place to be – and dance. The Meatpacking District is also a firm favourite amongst fashionistas for late-night dining at The Spotted Pig or relaxing at the Gansevoort Hotel, with its legendary rooftop pool and incredible cocktails.
